About The Role

The National Composites Centre (NCC) in Bristol currently supports a number of Engineering Doctorate students, in collaboration with the EPSRC funded Industrial Doctorate Centre in Composites Manufacture (https://cimcomp.ac.uk/idc/). With several EngD candidates having successfully completed their doctorate, and significant recent investment in new manufacturing technologies, the NCC are currently looking at developing a range of new EngD projects in polymer matrix composites manufacturing, in topics ranging from in-process monitoring and part verification, development of virtual manufacturing framework, simulation of automated forming processes to design, manufacture and inspection of multi-material primary structures.

There is also interest in data-driven manufacturing processes and development of sustainable composite applications, within the automotive, aerospace, construction and energy sectors.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE PROJECTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE TO INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS DUE TO TIER 4 VISA REQUIREMENTS.

Applicants with ‘home student’ status and holding or about to graduate with a first or 2.1 degree in structural or chemical engineering, materials science or physical sciences, should send their CV and covering letter in the first instance to idc-composites@bristol.ac.uk.
